In short
From my research I learned that using elements of games children already know helped to get the attention of the children quicker and capture it longer, since they don’t need to learn a whole new game with complicated rules. This led me to base my idea on the game of tag, which is one of the most widely known games among children. In my process I looked at the needs and wants of children and their parents. I visited the scouts to observe their play, speak with the children about their interests, and interview parents and the scout leaders. Later in the process I returned to test prototypes, gain more knowledge and test my final concept with the children.
"Getikt" the offline videogame
Getikt! is a modern twist on the classic game of tag. Every player has 3 lives. Each team needs to work together to take lives from the opponents and save lives for each other.
The design uses video game elements in physical play, by incorporating the use of multiple lives, and a shield-like design. |
